‘O Hoku Ka Pō Mahina, the full moon is in Scorpio! Scorpio rules Pluto, this moon is shining light on death, rebirth, and transformation- perhaps a past version of yourself is dying off. This is a time of emotional release and hidden truths surfacing. A new cycle is emerging. The last time we had a full moon in Scorpio was May 12th, 2025. Full moons bring endings and close cycles- releasing what is no longer. To better understand what themes may come up for you during this time look to the Scorpio house of your chart. For instance, if your Scorpio is the 9th house, the focus for you may be travel, higher education, and connecting with a higher purpose; often ruling philosophy, expansion, and spiritual truth. If in the 10th house, the focus would be around career, public eye, reputation, and long-term legacy. The natal 9th house is Sagittarius and the natal 10th house is Capricorn. Sagittarius is a fire sign ruled by Jupiter, and is the “seeker” archetype. The energy is expansive, adaptable, and has this sense of free-like energy, almost like air. Capricorn is an Earth sign and the energy here wants to build something lasting; ruled by Saturn, this energy shows perseverance, dedication and structure.
You can also think of a parallel between what happened after May 12th, 2025, especially within that one month mark. Last year, 3 weeks after the full moon in Scorpio I moved off island to embark on a new chapter sailing through Papahānaumokuākea. There were several changes that came after that full moon and I’m feeling a similar energy coming. Perhaps a move or voyage. Whatever it may be; I feel a radical shift emerging.
Hoku is known as the lucky moon Hānau ‘ia ke kanaka ia lā, he mea kūlia. Hoku is the 15th moon, making it the halfway point for the moon phase cycle. Hoku governs the realm of the na’au or intuitive knowing, this is a great day to channel and allow any subconscious thoughts or feelings in. It is said if you start your wai maka lehua on the full moon, any information you channel or receive is meant to be shared with the collective, it’s that priestess energy. Like the yin-yang energy, Hoku moons pair well with those born under a Muku or New Moon.
‘A’ohe pau ka ‘ike i ka hālau, “not all knowledge is taught in one school.” Many people consider Hoku to be the fullest and brightest of the 4 full moons. Since Hoku is illuminating her silvery light, she is considered to be of the feminine energy. Hoku is traditionally a day of many blessings for health, joy, fortune, and prosperity. For those that are born under a Hoku moon, people often possess a magnetic and vibrant persona, attracting others with their charm. They’re naturally good at what they do and may have many skills and talents, making them successful people in the long run. Often-times they are leaders or trend setters, and not afraid to do things that are considered “different” or unconventional. Work with this Scorpio energy, and make way for new chapters.
Aloha nō, and have yourself a rooted day.
