Papahānaumokuākea
Papahānaumokuākea is a protected marine national monument that consists of our North Western Hawaiian islands. Holding deep spiritual and cultural significance for our people, it is also known as the realm of Pō, where the spirits reside, and where ones spirit passes through after death. Home to over 7,000 different species, 25% of those animals are found no where else on earth. Hawai'i consists of 137 islands, I've been fortunate to sail and visit some of the most isolated places in the world. I've compiled a series of photos from the wildlife, to the harsh reality that our endangered species are facing. As if that’s not enough, Elon Musk has been approved by the FAA to launch his 25 Space X rockets annually from Texas, leaving the rocket debris to fall into our oceans, and more specifically Papahānaumokuākea. Elon Musk is the ONLY option that provides WiFi services for the remote field work across the islands of Papahānaumokuākea- a complete game changer for conservation work- but, at a cost. This is Exploitation Disguised as Innovation. History is repeating itself- not just on the land, but now, in the sky.
